What is the process for registering the car when I have finished?

There are forms to complete and procedures to follow in order to register your new vehicle.

 

Here are some guidelines. However, do feel free to contact us should you have any queries regarding these.

 

1. Send your V5 and SORN declaration to Swansea as soon as you have it to change your name and address only.

 

2. Apply for an SVA application form by calling Swansea Vehicle Inspectorate on 01792 458888 or download from the VOSA website (search on SVA form).

 

3. When your car is completed send off your SVA application and fee to the address on the form. You will be given a date for your test at your chosen SVA centre. This can take up to four weeks to get.

 

4. MOT your car. Hopefully pass first time!

6. Complete: V627/1 (available as a download from http://www.direct.gov.uk ) search on V627/1

- Built up Vehicle Inspection Report and V55/5 Application for a first licence. Please ring us for help to fill these in.

 

7. Take to your VLO: V5, V627/1, V55/5 (available from your local VLO), MOT certificate, SVA pass certificate, insurance cover note (insure on chassis number), paper driving licence, utility bill, 6 or 12 months road fund licence fee, first registration fee and kit receipt.

 

8. You will asked to attend your VLO with your car for inspection. A couple of days later you will be issued with your registration number and tax disc.

 

9. Your registration document will arrive a few weeks later. Check to make sure your car has been registered correctly - Make: AK Sportscars, Model: AK 427.
