Electrical Mare 2007/09/02 22:55
I really wish I would take better notes. Can someone please confirm the following electrical queries for me.

1. The Brown/Blue on the O/S Leg I have connected to the fluid reservoir - should this connect to the brake pressure switch - if not, what do I connect to this latter switch?

2. Really confused on my starter. I have three connections on the starter solenoid - which sould be "from battery", "+ve from coil" and "from ignition". There is also a permanent connection from the solenoid to the motor. I have 1 large Red from the battery, 2 large red from the loom, 1 white/yellow, labelled "solenoid crank" and 1 blue/orange labelled "solenoid live". So, my question is, what goes where? I wish I could attach a picture of it, as their are two large connections and one small connection on the solenoid.

3. In the cockpit, there are two cables "Brown", "Lt Blue" - where do these go? (I have a suspicion that they are for the washer pump?

4. In the cockpit, there are 1 large red and 1 medium red cables - where do these go?

5. I think the Brown and Green/Black are for the fuel pump - mine is mechanical, therefore I assume these can be left open.

6. There is a cluster with connectors on the loom in the cockpit - Green/Blue, Brown, Green/Brown, Green/Red, 2 Green/Brown. I can't find what these are for?

7. There are two long Green/Violet taped together - again, what are these for?

8. And finally, (for now anyway), there are four cables together, Brown, Blue/Yellow, Black/Yellow and Brown/Yellow - the obvious question by now - what are these for?

Thanks in anticipation?

Steve

ps, is there anything that tells me which relays go where?

Hi Steve

Answers to your questions:

1. There is no brown/blue wire! - there should be a red/blue and a brown which go to your low fluid reservoir.

2. Large red from battery, 2 large red from loom go to your large solenoid connection (not the one that is permanently connected to the motor). White and yellow to small terminal. Blue/orange you won't use as you dobn't have a copnnection for this on your starter.

3. I gather your mean a brown and a grey wire. These are for electric fuel pump if you are using one.

4. Connect the two eyes together with M5 nut and bolt and tape up well.

5. The brown and green/black are for connecting to washer motor.

6. These wires go to your wiper motor.

7. They are connections to your brake light switch.

8. These wires to to your heater motor.

Relay Layout:

1. Hazard Relay
2. Inicator Relay
3. Dip Beam Relay
4. Main Beam Relay
5. Radiator Fan Relay
6. Intermittent Wipe Relay (But only needed if using Ford or Rover column)

Don't be afraid of ringing me if you have wiring problems as we know that wiring can prove difficult for some poeple. We are always here to help.

Ken
