Small query on the pushbuttons I have on the dashboard - 8 connections on there - 2 lots of common, 2 lots of normally open, 2 lots of normally closed, and 2 for the LED.
They are the same ones in the AK - soldered connections or using spade connectors? - really small connections on there.
I am assuming that the LED ones are connected to the instrument lighting connections?
On the key switch, i have the following connections R/GA, 15, ST/50, BAT/30 - latter to the battery, ST/50 to the starter, but what connects to the other two?
Thanks - nearly getting there.

Hi Steve
The switches are wired up differently depending on their function.
Side lights, head lights and heater are wired the same ie. live into one of commons and out of normally open. The LED's can be wired either to come on with side lights or to come on when button pushed. If wiring to come on when button pushed - jumper the output to LED and other LED connection to earth (remember LED's need to be connected the correct way round to light).
Fog is wired the same but the LED must light when button pushed (to indicate when fog light on).
Hazzards - take hazzard live into one of commons and jumper to the other common.
LH indicator to one normally open. RH indicator to other normally open. Wire LED to come on with side lights.
Start button is wired live into common, normally open out to a 30 amp relay to power start the solenoid.
I will do a drawing of these switches and colours for you and pop in the post.
What key switch are you using? We normally use dashboard mounted switch and separate starter button - in which case all you need is off and on.
Regards Ken

Thanks Ken,
I've got a dashboard mounted switch and starter button recessed into the gear knob.
Look forward to getting the post.
Cheers,
Steve

Ken,
Have received post and connected up the switches at the weekend - however, I now think I may have a problem. I don't have any switches for the side lights and the head lights (my fault but assumed they were on the column stalks). More importantly however, the Purple cable and the Blue/Red cable on the dashboard loom appear not to exist???? The Red cable that you state, I assume is the same one as for the instrument lights.
Bit worried now as not sure how I will operate my lights.
Help??!?!!
Steve

Hi Steve
Yes, you are going to need a light switch for side and head lights.
The purple and red side light wires come out of the loom behind the dash to a two pin plug (this is because the Rover column we used to use had a light switch on the column).
The blue/red cable that you 'T' into for headlights is in one of the column disconnect plugs.
