Well, the weekend wasn't so good. Still couldn't get my clutch unstuck. The worst of it was though after having run the car for half an hour, I noticed the temperature gauge creeping up to 90 and the fan hadn't cut in. So the question is: what temperature should the water be at and when should the fan cut in (I realise that this is adjustable, but what is the minium and maximums)?
Ta in anticipation.

Hi Steve
Sounds like you have a very cool running engine. Your engine will normally need to run at 90 degrees. Set your fan to come on at about 95 (our motorbikes come at 103) because water under prssure has a higher boiling point than if it is not under pressure.

Hi Lynda,
Thanks for that. I have to say I didn't tell the full story - when I stopped the engine at 90 (cos my bottle went), the expansion tank was bubbling away like a kettle. Left the engine for 10 minutes and then cracked the pressure cap (no release of pressure) so removed the chack ostensibly to check levels - to which there was a large eruption of water out of the expansion tank (took quite a while to clean up).
So first question was valid as long as my temperature sensor and gauge are reading correctly - I now suspect that it's possible the sensor is incorrect - but not sure if the above should happen at those temperatures?

Hi Steve
We want to answer this, but are puzzled by 'chack'. What is it?
